Legacy Project // Ollie Vaughn Rath // Walterboro, South Carolina

This past week I had the pleasure of meeting  and photographing Mrs. Ollie Vaughn Rath of Walterboro, SC.  She is a beautiful and precious lady who has an awesome, positive attitude and her love for people is readily apparent.  She recently celebrated her 95th birthday on March 15th and despite macular degeneration, she is still very independent and has many loving family members and neighbors who care for her.  She is the last of 10 siblings.  She and her first husband, Lee Vaughn had four daughters.  She now proudly has 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great grandchildren. She later re-married at age 79 to Richard Rath.  She was a nurse for over 18 years to Dr. Jim Vonlehe and Dr. Luke Erwin of Walterboro and received a Humanitarian Award. She was also an extraordinary seamstress for over 50 years.  Along with sewing and cooking, she has always loved gardening. She was a member of the Mayfield Garden Club for over 20 years where she won a National Blue Ribbon.  She was also a volunteer at the Colleton Medical Center for over 10 years.

Thanks to my mom for coming along and helping out with the shoot and the writeup!
